we attended the parties that never ended
and lived like kings and queens
happiness stretched to the horizon
                               as if we  were immortal
so the day the world collapsed
we were too paralysed in our bliss
to take a stand
and the lives we once lived
              disintegrated
                      before our very eyes
then the dances went too quickly
sunsets falling much too fast
no time to catch our breath
only to lay there choking
on the ashes of our mortality
